The Hamilton Tiger-Cats added quarterback Ethan Garbers to the negotiation list on Monday, according to the CFL Negotiation List page. Garbers is currently a free agent.
Ethan Garbers is six foot two and weighs 207 pounds. The 24-year-old from Newport Beach, California, signed with the Frankfurt Galaxy of the European Football Alliance on March 19, 2026. In 2026, he completed 140 of 220 passes (63%) for 1,786 yards, 15 touchdowns, two interceptions, 85 carries for 334 yards, and one rushing touchdown in eight games. The Galaxy released him on July 24, 2026.
The Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. The Panthers released him on July 23, 2025. The Madrid Bravos of the European League of Football signed Garbers on December 10, 2025. However, he was released on March 10, 2026, when the team ceased operations.
Collegiately, Garbers spent one season at the University of Washington in 2020, but did not play a game for the Huskies. Then, he transferred to UCLA (2021-24), completing 390 of 597 passes (65%) for 4,462 yards, 31 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, 143 carries for 294 yards, three rushing touchdowns, one catch for five yards, punting the ball one time for 41 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 40 games for the Bruins.
In 2024, he completed 235 of 363 passes (65%) for 2,727 yards, 16 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 83 carries for 136 yards, one rushing touchdown, and punting the ball one time for 41 yards in 11 games. In 2023, he was named the Starco Brands LA Bowl Offensive MVP when he completed 9 of 12 passes (75%) for 152 yards, two touchdowns, and three carries for 38 yards against the Boise State Broncos.
