Noah Jupe will be the latest actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the “Hamnet” and “A Quiet Place” star tapped to play a top-secret role in “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
The superhero team-up movie, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and produced by Marvel chief Kevin Feige, is the follow-up to “Avengers: Doomsday.” That movie doesn’t debut until Dec. 18, but production on “Secret Wars” is set to begin later this year (ahead of a Dec. 17, 2027 release date), kicking casting rumors into high gear.
Marvel had no comment on Jupe’s casting.
As a child actor, Jupe garnered attention for his standout turns in the TV series “The Night Manager” and “The Undoing,” before breaking out on the big screen with “Honey Boy” (for which he earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination) and the “Quiet Place” movies. The British actor recently appeared in Chloe Zhao’s Oscar-winning film “Hamnet” alongside Paul Mescal, Jessie Buckley and his younger brother, Jacobi Jupe.
“Secret Wars” will likely reunite Jupe with his most recent co-star, Sadie Sink, who played the Juliet to his Romeo in a production of Shakespeare’s classic on London’s West End. Sink made her MCU debut as the mutant Jean Grey in July’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and will reprise her role in the forthcoming “X-Men” movie from Jake Schreier.
“Doomsday” follows as Marvel superheroes from three distinct universes — namely the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and several of Fox’s O.G. X-Men — are set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered: Victor Von Doom.
Marvel’s new Big Bad is played by Robert Downey Jr., whose original “Avengers” character Tony Stark/Iron Man died in 2019’s “Endgame.” The film features a sprawling cast of A-listers, including Chris Evans (returning as Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Tom Hiddleston.
Not much has been revealed about “Secret Wars,” which is said to be even larger in scale than “Doomsday,” leading audiences to believe that more superheroes (like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man or Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange) will return. If the movie follows the comic run of the same name, it could bring together every hero from across the MCU multiverse into one dimension called Battleworld. In the comics, Battleworld stitched together all the different worlds and plopped every hero and their variants into a new universe.
