The 6:15 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. sailings from Departure Bay and the 8:35 a.m. and 1:25 p.m. sailings from Horseshoe Bay were cancelled due to a mechanical problem
Eight more sailings between Nanaimo’s Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay were cancelled on Tuesday morning as a result of a mechanical issue that developed Monday on the Queen of Cowichan.
The 6:15 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. sailings from Departure Bay and the 8:35 a.m. and 1:25 p.m. sailings from Horseshoe Bay were cancelled, along with the 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. sailings from Departure Bay, and the 6:20 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. from Horseshoe Bay.

All sailings on the route via the Queen of Oak Bay are expected to proceed.
B.C. Ferries said its engineering team is investigating the mechanical issue and repairs were expected to start Tuesday morning.
It said two Wednesday sailings could be at risk of cancellation, including the 6:15 a.m. leaving Departure Bay and the 8:35 a.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay.
It said anyone with a booking on a cancelled sailing can expect a call from B.C. Ferries’ customer-service centre on whether they can be placed on another sailing or if their booking will be cancelled.
Fees and/or fares will be refunded if the booking is cancelled, B.C. Ferries said.
“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations,” it said in a statement.
On Monday, cancellations began with the 4 p.m. sailing from Departure Bay and the 6:20 p.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay, followed by cancellation of the 8:30 p.m. sailing from Departure Bay and the 10:40 p.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay.
