A new Japanese restaurant looks to be opening at one of the most exciting new developments in Mississauga.
The trendy new Exchange District will be a mix of residential and retail space. Residents of this community have access to a gym, yoga room, regulation-sized half basketball court, on-site shops, restaurants, garden stations, a cold storage room, a dry sauna, a pet spa, outdoor theatre, a meditation lounge, an outdoor fitness area, a rooftop terrace, pool, hot tub, a co-working space, a party room, a sun deck, a catering kitchen and more.
The development will also boast more than two million square feet of retail, shopping, dining, office and commercial spaces.
Food options should include Toronto coffee shop Zaza Espresso Bar, which plans to operate “seasonal outposts” in the outdoor piazza, as well as Mediterranean restaurant Byblos.
Other concepts slated to open at the Exchange district include a steakhouse, a speakeasy, a new café concept from Tim Hortons and the new and highly anticipated Japanese Fish Market.
So far all that seems to be officially posted on a social media account for Japanese Fish Market appears to be some graphics promising that the restaurant will be a sushi and sake bar that promises to open soon in downtown Mississauga.
If you’re a lover of raw fish and strong drinks, however, that’s probably enough to get you salivating for this new opening.
New signage for the restaurant is now up at 4031 The Exchange. The new concept is from the team behind EDO Restaurants, the longstanding Toronto Japanese restaurant that has been serving premium sushi and Japanese cuisine since 1986.
Teasers for the new Mississauga concept advertise “Sushi & Sake Bar” and “Next Stop Sushi & Sake,” while branding takes inspiration from a traditional Japanese fish market.

Japanese Fish Market will combine restaurant and fresh market concepts as well as Japanese and Americana influences. Daniel Chaim, of EDO and Canada Food Group, has decades of industry experience.
“I grew up around restaurants and Japanese food, so there’s a lot of history behind this concept, but Japanese Fish Market is about taking that foundation somewhere that the GTA hasn’t seen before,” Chaim tells YourCityWithIN.com. “We want to create a place where the food, market and atmosphere all converge into an experience that feels immersive and unexpected.”
An opening date for the new Japanese Fish Market at the Exchange District in Mississauga has not been announced yet.
