A reality TV star has allegedly fled Australia on the day he was due to face court on domestic violence charges.
Below Deck Mediterranean star Nathan Gallagher was expected to front Burwood Local Court on September 1, but the Irish star failed to appear with prosecutors suspecting he has now fled the country.
Gallagher was arrested back on December 27 for allegedly assaulting a 29-year-old woman at a unit block on Appleforth Street, Melrose Park, in Sydney on Boxing Day.
NSW Police were called to the unit following reports of an alleged assault and there were no reports of serious injuries. However, as per a police report recently obtained by news.com.au, Gallagher was taken to Gladesville Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking without consent and common assault.
The star pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was granted conditional bail by Burwood Local Court on January 15 until his court hearing scheduled for today.
Despite his non-attendance, police prosecutors asked Judge Janine Lacy to convict Gallagher in his absence, as per the Sydney Morning Herald.
Burwood Local Court has also confirmed to news.com.au that Gallagher has been convicted in absence on all three charges.
Judge Lacy also issued a warrant for his arrest.
“Given the serious nature of offences, and I note on the record I have been given documentation from immigration compliance operations division that he is currently overseas,” Judge Lacy told the court, as per the masthead.
“The defendant doesn’t have any prior criminal history but the offences are very serious, with significant maximum penalties, and context of DV committed in the home.”
“I record a conviction and issue a [arrest] warrant,” the judge concluded.
According to The Daily Telegraph, there were no conditions requiring Gallagher to report to police, surrender his passport, or refrain from leaving the jurisdiction.

Gallagher’s alleged victim, his then-partner and Below Deck Mediterranean castmate Gael Cameron, attended court today ready to give evidence, but the hearing was called off due to his non-attendance.
Cameron – an Aussie reality star who is the mother of Gallagher’s 1-year-old son, Kayden – also had her two-year apprehended violence order against Gallagher finalised by the judge.
The couple first appeared on Season 9 of the Below Deck spin-off in 2024 both employed as deckhands aboard the superyacht Mustique in Athens, Greece, during which they struck up a romance.
The pair no longer follow each other on Instagram, and days before today’s hearing fans noticed Gallagher had deleted his Instagram account entirely.

Prior to wiping his account clean, the reality star vowed in a statement to Rolling Stone that he would not “make accusations or release private documents on Instagram”.
“I have kept the evidence and will deal with it through the appropriate channels,” Gallagher said in his statement. “But I also don’t believe it is fair for one version of events to be presented publicly as though it is the complete story when there is evidence that may materially contradict or provide significant context to that account.”
It has since come to light that Gallagher is also subject to a bench warrant issued by Ireland’s Dungloe District Court in April 2025 in relation to an alleged assault of an unknown man in the small town on August 2022.
According to Irish newspaper The Donegal Daily, Gallagher was arrested in August 2022 and charged with “assaulting another man and causing him harm” on the main street in Dungloe, in his home county Donegal.
It was two years after this alleged incident that Gallagher surfaced as a deckhand on the reality show Below Deck Mediterranean’s ninth season.
Ireland Police reportedly issued a warrant for his arrest in April 2025 after he failed to appear in court, and the warrant is still active.
