Wednesday is expected to bring a chance of showers, thunderstorms and rainfall up to 20 mm in parts of the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says the morning will be mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent to 70 per cent chance of showers in the early morning in Toronto, Niagara Falls and Hamilton, dropping to a 40 per cent chance in Mississauga, Brampton and Oshawa.
A southwest wind will be blowing around 20 km/h with gusts up to around 40 km/h in the morning across the GTA.
There’s a 30 per cent to 40 per cent chance of showers in the GTA in the afternoon, with showers of thunderstorms expected to follow. Environment Canada says the thunderstorms expected over much of southern Ontario on Wednesday could be one of the strongest of the year.
The daytime high will be around 29 C in Mississauga, but will feel more like 37 C due to the humidity. The UV index will be 8 or “very high,” the weather agency says.
Wednesday night is expected to bring more showers or thunderstorms across southern Ontario, ending near midnight. Conditions will be mainly cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers.
There’s also a risk of more thunderstorms in the late evening and overnight, the weather agency says. Between 10 mm to 20 mm of rainfall is expected throughout the day, and the overnight low will be around 20 C.
Looking ahead to Thursday, conditions will again be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers in Mississauga and a daytime high of around 26 C, while the evening will be cloudy with a low of 16 C. Friday is expected to bring a mix of sun and cloudy conditions to the GTA with a daytime high of 26 C and an overnight low of 15 C.
