Samsung has already confirmed it’s working on a Galaxy Z TriFold device, which the company teased during January Unpacked. While details have been scarce, recent leaks have shed more light on the device’s progress. Now, we have an exclusive look at some of the One UI 8 features tailored specifically for this upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold.
Three-app parallel split screen
Thanks to the Galaxy Z TriFold’s three phone-sized panels, One UI 8 will finally let you run three apps side by side. You’ll be able to drop a “split trio” onto the home screen, taskbar, or Edge panel, and arrange it horizontally or vertically depending on your workflow. It’s a multitasking setup that actually makes sense on a trifold.
Cover screen mirroring also gets updated
Cover screen mirroring, already on current Galaxy foldables, will get an upgrade on the Galaxy Z TriFold. Right now, it mirrors the cover screen and displayed two pages side by side. On the TriFold, it spans all three panels, with a smooth animation in the settings.
The first two home pages appear next to each other on the larger internal display for a consistent layout, while separate layouts remain an option for users who want more flexibility.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 already shows how far Samsung has come with foldables, raising expectations for the Galaxy Z TriFold. Samsung executives have confirmed the TriFold is expected to launch by the end of this year.
