Riley Faulkner has been named in the New Zealand team to head to the UCI Track World Championships.
Southland teenager Riley Faulkner has earned a national call-up after being named in the New Zealand team for the 2026 UCI Track World Championships.
Faulkner is yet another in a long list of cycling talent who have emerged out of Southland and progressed to the world stage at an elite level.
The UCI Track World Championships will be held in Shanghai, China from October 14 to 18.
Faulkner is one of four female sprint riders named in a group that also includes Olympic gold medallist Ellesse Andrews, double Olympian Rebecca Petch, and Olivia King.
All up 21 riders have been named across both the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships and the UCI Track World Championships.
Faulkner will be joined by two other Southlanders, Tom Sexton and Marshall Erwood, in the New Zealand team.
Sexton and Erwood are both coming off a trip to the Commonwealth Games last month, where they picked up a bronze medal in the team pursuit.
They will be joined by Keegan Hornblow, Dan Morton, and George Jackson in New Zealand men’s endurance group at the World Championships.
