National Forest Week and National Tree Day

Celebrate National Forest Week, September 23 to 27, and National Tree Day on September 23 by taking part in activities led by Tree Canada and the Canadian Institute of Forestry.

 

Residential Tree Giveaway

Residents can register for a free tree to plant on their property. Trees are limited to one per household and are available while quantities last. Residents can select one of the following tree pickup dates:

Date: Saturday, September 12

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pickup Location: Norton Place Park, 170 Clark Boulevard

 

Date: Wednesday, September 16

Time: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Pickup Location: Norton Place Park, 170 Clark Boulevard

 

Tour the Trees Bike Tour

Join Brampton’s Parks and Forestry team and Bike Brampton for a free bike ride to learn about significant trees in Brampton and finish off your ride with a free barbeque. Registration is required.

Date: Sunday, September 20

Time: 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Start/End Location: Jim Archdekin Recreation Centre, 292 Conestoga Dr.

 

Community Tree Planting Event

Join Scouts and City staff to plant native trees and shrubs and help restore wildlife habitat. Registration is required.

Date: Saturday, September 26

Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library, 10150 The Gore Rd.

 

Self-Guided Tree Walks

Explore Brampton’s urban forest at your own pace with self-guided tree walks at Dorchester Park (75 Dorchester Dr.) and Conservation Drive Park (130 Conservation Dr.). Discover Brampton’s newest self-guided tree walk at Dorchester Park, where an interactive map and QR codes throughout the park provide information about the variety of trees found in the area and their role in the urban forest. At Conservation Drive Park, follow the interactive map through one of Brampton’s natural areas to learn how to identify different tree species, understand their importance to local wildlife and explore the unique features of Brampton’s natural landscape.

 

Tree Month Colouring Contest

Brampton residents aged 12 and under can participate from September 1 to October 1 for a chance to win a Brampton Parks prize pack. The submission deadline is Friday, October 2.

 

I Hear You, Forest Story Walk

Enjoy a free story walk, called Tree Song written by Tiffany Stone, illustrated by Holly Hatam, in Chinguacousy Park, presented by the City of Brampton in partnership with Greystone Kids Books and Brampton Library.
