A restaurant in Mississauga has been shut down by Peel Public Health after a failed health inspection.
Swagruhas, located at 2970 Drew Rd, was inspected and closed on Thursday, Sept. 3.
The South Indian vegetarian restaurant specializes in sweet and savoury dosas.
Peel Public Health’s report states that the restaurant did not properly store food to prevent contamination and/or adulteration and did not take adequate measures to prevent pests, as well as various other health violations.
The restaurant is closed until further notice and may reopen after passing a follow-up inspection.
This is the only failed inspection on file for this restaurant, which has inspections going back to October 2024.
Peel Public Health regularly inspects restaurants in the region, issuing a green card if the inspection is passed, a yellow card for a conditional pass (minor infractions), and a red card if significant health risks are found.
A restaurant that’s issued a red card is forced to close until it can pass a follow-up inspection.
