Busiest travel days at YVR are Friday and Monday, according to the international airport.
Vancouver International Airport is anticipating a busy Labour Day long weekend as the summer wraps up.
The airport is expecting around 350,000 travellers will pass through between Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7 with an average of 87,000 passengers each day.
Friday and Monday are expected to be the busiest days with 88,000 and 90,000 passengers travelling, respectively.
Following the FIFA 2026 World Cup in June, YVR says this makes it a “record-breaking summer travel season” at the airport.
The airport also had a 13-per-cent increase in cargo moving through in July compared to last year.
“This is being driven by strong international activity, particularly from Asia and Europe,” according to a statement from YVR.
Travellers are encouraged to confirm flight details with their airlines or at yvr.ca before heading to the airport, to reserve parking in advance and to plan extra travel time before their flight.
X-ray equipment at domestic checkpoints now allow travellers to leave laptops and liquids in their bags during security screening.
YVR has also implemented biometric identity verification tools at some of the boarding gates so travellers don’t need to show their boarding passes and physical identification.
According to YVR, the biometric verification has been used by 500,000 passengers so far this year.
