Drivers north of Brampton are being asked to steer clear of a busy roadway after a sinkhole opened following rain and thunderstorms this week.
Peel Public Works says The Gore Road has been closed between Mayfield Road and Healy Road in Caledon, and work crews are on the scene for emergency repairs.
A photo from the scene shows a small sinkhole in the roadway blocked off by pylons. Peel Public Works says The Gore Road has been closed to all traffic in both directions while the repairs are underway.
“Please plan an alternate route while the repairs are being completed,” Peel Public Works says.

Weather conditions are expected to be favourable after days of severe thunderstorm alerts, tornado watches and warnings across southern Ontario.

Heavy rain from Wednesday’s severe thunderstorm closed roads and highways in the Greater Toronto Area, with localized flooding on parts of Yonge Street and the Don Valley Parkway.
Peel Regional Police also warned drivers of dangerous conditions on Southdown Road and flooding under the Bromsgrove Road bridge in Mississauga. Water levels also breached banks at Hindhead Park and Loyalist Creek at 5th Line in Mississauga, the Credit Valley Conservation said.
