Peel Regional Police say they have arrested and charged two people in connection with a violent home invasion in Brampton that left two residents with gunshot wounds while two more remain outstanding.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on June 14 near McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue West. Police say three suspects forced their way into a home through a rear glass door while five people were sleeping inside. A fourth suspect allegedly waited in a nearby getaway vehicle.
A confrontation followed, and two residents were shot. Both were taken to hospital, treated and later released. They are continuing to recover at home.
Investigators arrested two suspects on July 15. They include 18-year-old Toronto resident Javaunie Thomas and a 16-year-old Toronto youth. Both face multiple charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault, robbery, firearm-related offences and possession of property obtained by crime.
The 16-year-old’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both accused remain in custody following bail hearings.
Police are still searching for two other suspects. One is described as a roughly six-foot-tall male with a heavy build and dark complexion who was armed with a handgun. The second suspect was reportedly the getaway driver, but police have no description.
