Labour Day in Mississauga and across Canada falls on Monday, September 7, 2026.

The early September holiday originally came about as a way to give workers the chance to campaign for better working conditions and pay. However, these days, it’s part of a long weekend during which you can relax. 

Here’s what’s open and closed in Mississauga on Labour Day 2026:

Open: 

Square One Shopping Centre is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm 
Walmart Supercentre will be open at Square One from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm 
The Food District at Square One 
The Rec Room at Square One 
Whole Foods Market Square One (8 am to 6 pm)
Celebration Square and the Celebration Square fountain 
Rabba grocery stores 
T&T grocery store 
Most Shoppers Drug Marts 
The Beer Store locations at 1550 Dundas St. E., 5800 McLaughlin Rd. and 2458 Dundas St. W. (all open 11 am – 6 pm)
YMCA health and fitness centre in Mississauga — and other locations across the GTA (8 am to 4 pm)
Most restaurants, but call ahead to be sure

Transit:

MiWay will operate on a Sunday schedule (check MiWay website as some routes may operate on reduced frequency)
GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule 
TransHelp: all trips for Monday, Sept. 7 and Tuesday, Sept. 8 must be booked by 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6
On Monday, Sept. 7, TransHelp will operate from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. and the TransHelp office will be closed

there will be no curbside waste/recycling collection on Monday, Sept. 7. Waste will be collected one day later than usual
all community recycling centres will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, and will reopen the following day
