A long-standing tradition is back again for another year.
The 33rd annual Friends of Palliative Care Golf Tournament is teeing off at the Brockville Country Club on Wednesday to raise money for Brockville General Hospital’s Palliative Care Team.
Last year, the tournament raised $400,000, bringing the grand total to $5,593,400 over the duration of the event’s existence.
Hundreds of golfers participate every year in playing a round of golf, taking part in a charity auction and bringing in charitable donations for a good cause.
The Palliative Care Outreach Program has a significant number of patients using the service, and that number is only expected to grow as the population continues to age.
Brockville General Hospital’s Palliative Care Team provides essential, compassionate services to patients and families across Leeds and Grenville, covering a vast area from Gananoque to Cardinal and extending north to Westport, Rideau Lakes, and North Grenville.
The annual cost to run the Palliative Care Outreach Program is over $900,000, and the program receives minimal funding and relies on the generosity of the community to sustain the services it provides.
