Men’s Results and Upcoming Schedule1 of 2

No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz def. No. 20 Tommy Paul, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4

No. 11 Frances Tiafoe def. No. 7 Daniil Medvedev, 7-6 (1), 6-4, 7-6 (6)

No. 8 Ben Shelton def. Stefanos Tsitsipas, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4

Alex Michelsen def. No. 27 Tomas Martin Etcheverry, 7-6 (6), 6-4, 6-4

Carlos Alcaraz eased any concern about rust, defeating Tommy Paul in straight sets.

The defending champion’s forehand looked as strong as ever, while he was able to take advantage of Paul’s serving struggles.

Paul had his opportunities to break late in the match, but Alcaraz’s forehand was just too effective.

It was the Spaniard’s best match since returning from his wrist injury.

Frances Tiafoe improved his record to 10-0 at Louis Armstrong Stadium, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

The American was clinical in victory, dominating at the net, while moving Medevdev side-by-side with ease, forcing the former World No. 1 to beat him on the run—an area where he often struggles.

Medvedev had an opportunity to send it to a fourth set, leading 6-5 in the tie-breaker, but Tiafoe used his quick hands at the net to prevent the match from being extended.

Tiafoe is now in the quarterfinal at the US Open for the fourth time in the past five years.

Meanwhile, in other action, Alex Michelsen continued his improbable run with another straight-sets win.

The 22-year-old is the first unseeded man this century to reach the US Open quarterfinals without dropping a set.

Against No. 27 Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Michelsen’s serve once again stood out.

He won 81 percent of points on his first serve and hit 44 winners.

Michelsen has won at least 75 percent of his first-serve points in all four matches, troubling every opponent with his heavy forehand.

In the final men’s match of the day, Ben Shelton stayed in top form, dominating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets, becoming the third American man to reach the 2026 US Open quarterfinal.

The 23-year-old played another remarkable match, winning 84 percent of first-serve points while hitting 11 aces.

But perhaps the most impressive aspect of his game was his consistency, considering his aggressive game plan.

Shelton committed just 16 unforced errors, the fewest in any match since he won the National Bank Open final last month.

Match of the Day: Learner Tien (14) vs. Karen Khachanov

On Monday, Learner Tien will look to become the youngest American US Open quarterfinalist since Andy Roddick in 2002.

The 20-year-old enters on the heels of a thrilling five-set win over Jakub Mensik.

His next opponent, Khachanov, is expected to be just as challenging.

Khachanov has been in top form the entire tournament.

The former top-10 player has already earned a signature win this tournament, defeating No. 3 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round.

With his grit and the crowd behind him, Tien is certainly capable of winning this match.

However, with his experience and dangerous forehand, Khachanov should be able to persevere.

Prediction: Karen Khachanov def. No. 14 Learner Tien in 4 sets
