There’ll be something new to discover in East Vancouver soon.
Discovery Brewing is set to open later this year, according to Alekzander Zuber and Winston Lin, best friends, co-owners, and founders of the new brewery. Their hope is to turn an old industrial building into a destination for the neighbourhood.
“Our goal for 310 Victoria Dr. is to give people an inviting, elevated space to enjoy great food and really good beer,” says Zuber in a press release.
The new member of the “Yeast Vancouver” scene aims to bring an elevated West Coast aesthetic to the selection of local taprooms, with skylights, wood tones, and a “wooden dome.” The lounge is expected to seat 70 people.
At the bar they’re planning 12 house taps; there appears to be a focus on lagers, with a Munich-style Helles lager (named 815 after the year the style appeared in Munich) and a West Coast Pilsner.
“Boasting notes of strawberry, lemon-lime, and fresh herb, [Lovelace] offers a refreshing and highly drinkable experience, making it a standout choice for craft beer enthusiasts,” says Lin in the release.
The taproom food menu will see a mix of comfort classics and shareable snacks with some vegan options. The kitchen will also be using some of the brewery’s spent grain to bake.
No date has been set for the opening, though the plan is to start serving pints within a couple of months.
