A woman was arrested after a man was stabbed in the neck in Mississauga over the Labour Day weekend.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a stabbing outside a shelter on Dundas Street, near Main Street, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, Peel Regional Police said.
Officers found a man suffering from a serious stab wound to the neck, police said. He was transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police added.
Police said officers arrested a man who was involved in an initial altercation with the victim.
Officers later determined the man was not responsible for the stabbing, and he was released, police said.
Police identified a woman of interest who had fled the area on foot before police arrival.
On Monday, Sept. 7, 42-year-old Lorena Sanchez of Mississauga was located and arrested.
Sanchez was charged with attempted murder. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
