QUEBEC — Premier Christine Fréchette ramped up her defence of a Quebec economy under attack by U.S. tariffs Tuesday, and called on Quebecers to massively shift their spending from American to homegrown goods.
“We are headed for hard times and Quebec will not back down in the face of (U.S. President Donald) Trump,” Fréchette told reporters at an early-morning news conference.
“We will use every tool that is available to the state to buy more Quebec-made products in order to protect our jobs, protect our economy and protect our workers.”
