A musical whodunnit with two singing, dancing, piano-playing performers hits a Surrey stage this month.
Murder for Two puts a spin on the murder-mystery genre in Royal Canadian Theatre Company’s season-opener, Sept. 25-27 at Surrey Arts Centre’s Studio Theatre then Oct. 2-4 at Anvil Theatre in New Westminster.
Kerri Norris directs Brad Bonnell (as Marcus Moscowicz) and Olesia Shewchuk (The Suspects) in a 90-minute show with comedy, mystery and live music.
Written by Kellen Blair and Joe Kinosian, Murder for Two promises “a playful and unique experience” as audiences are invited to follow the clues and solve the mystery alongside characters including 13 suspects with plenty of lies, secrets and motives.
The story begins at a surprise birthday party for famous novelist Arthur Whitney, murdered after revealing secrets of everyone attending. Enter police officer Marcus Moscowicz, who investigates amid comedy, confusion and unexpected twists.
The Surrey run of Murder for Two has four show times. Single and group seats are sold on purchase.surrey.ca or call 604-501-5580.
Royal Canadian’s 2026/2027 season brings two other shows including the Crystal Weltzin-written holiday panto Jack and the Beanstalk (December dates) and a spring production of Patricia Johnson-Brooke’s The Reluctant Princess & Her Extraordinary Band of Pirates (March).
