Peel Regional Police have charged four Brampton residents following an investigation into a series of organized retail thefts across the Greater Toronto Area.
The investigation began on June 18 after officers responded to a reported theft at a business near Clayhill Road and Dundas Street West in Mississauga. Detectives later identified several suspects and linked them to additional retail thefts across Peel Region.
On July 20, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence near Mississauga Road and Mayfield Road in Brampton. Police say they recovered about $15,000 worth of stolen merchandise from several fitness, department and pharmacy retailers. The recovered items included electronics, health and fitness products, household goods, health supplements and cosmetics. Officers also seized two vehicles, jewelry and cash in various currencies.
The accused are Czuljana Ciecierska, 43, Dawid Ciecierski, 47, another Dawid Ciecierski, 21, and Danuta Towinska, 20.
Czuljana Ciecierska, 43, faces seven counts of Theft Under $5,000, one count of Theft Over $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, and Laundering Proceeds of Crime.
Dawid Ciecierski, 47, is charged with four counts of Theft Under $5,000, one count of Theft Over $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, and Laundering Proceeds of Crime.
Dawid Ciecierski, 21, faces three counts of Theft Under $5,000, along with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Laundering Proceeds of Crime.
Danuta Towinska, 20, has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
