Curtis Wright may have been born in Edmonton, but he’s been a permanent resident of the U.S. for 25 years after moving to Texas in his youth. He’s lived an average American life for years, working in oil and gas and building a family. But that all changed in November 2025, when a misdemeanor charge from two decades ago landed him in an ICE detention centre for nine months.
