Book lovers in Mississauga — and from other places near and far — likely have plans to be in the same spot late next week.
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra’s Giant Used Book Sale, considered among the largest such events in Ontario, returns to the city for a 31st year starting Sept. 17.
The four-day sale runs through Sept. 20 and is being held once again on the lower level at Sherwood Village (formerly known at various times over the decades as Sheridan Centre and Sheridan Mall).
The shopping centre is located at 2225 Erin Mills Pkwy., just north of the QEW.
Organizers describe the sale as “one of the city’s most cherished community events” and say it’s a “highlight for book and music enthusiasts alike.”
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra’s Giant Used Book Sale features thousands of fiction and non-fiction titles, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, board games and sheet music.
“All items are in excellent condition and listed at unbeatable prices,” book sale organizers said in a news release.
The event is being held on:
Sept. 17, from 5-9 p.m.
Sept. 18, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Sept. 19 (Saturday), from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sept. 20 (Sunday), from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (all items half-price).
Organizers note the book sale is a cash-only event with proceeds going to support the MSO’s annual concert season, the rapidly growing Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra and special large-scale projects such as fully-staged opera.
