Gateway does not forgive a bad setup. The 1.25-mile egg-shaped oval outside St. Louis pairs 11-degree banking in Turns 1-2 — closer to New Hampshire — with a flatter 9-degree sweep through Turns 3-4 that plays more like Phoenix, and the mismatch has produced four different winners in the four Cup Series races run there since 2022. With the Round of 16 field intact after Darlington and Bristol looming as the cutoff race, Sunday’s 240-lap, 300-mile event is the last chance for the 16 playoff drivers to bank stage points before the round tightens.
Below is the full Enjoy Illinois 300 race-winner market from BetRivers, FanDuel, LetsBetMD and Caesars, the Gateway trends that hold up under scrutiny, and the drivers whose prices look off.

Odds as of Friday, September 11 and subject to change. Caesars had priced only its top 10 at the time of writing.
The line-shopping gaps are largest right where the money sits. Logano is +650 at Caesars and +900 at FanDuel — a 250-point spread on a driver with the best track record at this specific circuit. Larson swings from +700 at LetsBetMD to +900 at FanDuel, and Reddick runs from +1100 to +1800 across the same two books. Taking the shortest number available all season is a quiet way to bleed out a winning system, and RG’s guide to the best online sportsbooks is a useful starting point for building out the multi-book lineup above.

The Round of 16 Field After Darlington
All 16 playoff drivers survived the round’s opening race at Darlington, and Sunday is the last stage-points opportunity before Bristol trims the field to 12. Here is the seeding entering Gateway, per NASCAR:
SeedDriverTeamPointsBehind1Denny HamlinJoe Gibbs Racing2,135Leader2Christopher BellJoe Gibbs Racing2,123-123Ryan BlaneyTeam Penske2,119-164Tyler Reddick23XI Racing2,111-245Chase BriscoeJoe Gibbs Racing2,098-376Ty GibbsJoe Gibbs Racing2,096-397Kyle LarsonHendrick Motorsports2,086-498Joey LoganoTeam Penske2,063-729Chase ElliottHendrick Motorsports2,063-7210Bubba Wallace23XI Racing2,054-8111Chris BuescherRFK Racing2,047-8812Carson HocevarSpire Motorsports2,046-8913Daniel SuárezSpire Motorsports2,041-9414Austin CindricTeam Penske2,033-10215Ryan PreeceRFK Racing2,031-10416William ByronHendrick Motorsports2,021-114
Joe Gibbs Racing holds four of the top six seeds — Hamlin, Bell, Briscoe and Gibbs — which is exactly why the organization’s cars occupy the top of the odds board above. Hendrick Motorsports tells a messier story: Larson is the highest-seeded Chevrolet at seventh, but Elliott and Byron sit eighth and 16th despite both carrying real history at this track, and the gap between Hendrick’s seeding and its Gateway pedigree is one of the more interesting threads to watch Sunday.
Hamlin’s case is the season’s most familiar subplot. He leads the field with four wins, 14 top fives, 17 top 10s, 948 laps led and zero DNFs across 27 starts, and he is still chasing his first championship. A strong Gateway would extend both his points cushion and his personal narrative heading toward Bristol.
Gateway Trends: What Actually Predicts This Race
World Wide Technology Raceway has hosted four Cup Series races since 2022, and the sample is small enough that both randomness and genuine skill show up in the numbers.
Four races, four different winners. Joey Logano won in 2022, Kyle Busch in 2023, Austin Cindric in 2024 and Denny Hamlin in 2025 — no repeat champion yet at this track in the Cup era. Two of those four wins came from the pole, which is a meaningfully higher hit rate than most 1.5-mile-and-under ovals produce.
Logano is the most consistent Gateway performer in the field, full stop. He has four top-five finishes in four Cup starts here and a 3.50 average finish, the best mark among active drivers. His outright price (+650 to +900 depending on the book) does not reflect that level of week-in, week-out track form.
Hamlin’s recent run is real, even if his overall average finish is not spotless. He has finished first, second and second in his last three Gateway starts, and he set the track’s qualifying record at 139.190 mph in 2025 — but an off day earlier in his career at this circuit drags his average finish to 9.8 across all starts, and his 111.2 driver rating is still the best in the field.
Margins have been tight, then suddenly not. The closest finish in Gateway’s Cup history was 0.517 seconds (Busch over Hamlin in 2023); the widest was 3.844 seconds (Cindric over Hamlin in 2024). Two of the four races have needed overtime, which points to a track that stays green and competitive deep into the closing laps rather than settling early.
Blaney and track position. Blaney leads all active drivers in cumulative laps led at Gateway (120) and posts the field’s best average starting position (3.75), and Team Penske’s overall record at this circuit is the strongest of any organization. Bell, for his part, has finished inside the top seven in four of his five starts on similarly flat, short-track-style circuits in 2026 — the profile that made him the Southern 500 winner and now makes him the market’s shortest price at three of four books.
Top-3 Finish and Winning Team Markets
For a track where four different drivers have won in four tries, the top-three and team markets are often the more efficient way to express an opinion. Here is FanDuel’s board:
Top-3 Finish (FanDuel): Christopher Bell +155, Ryan Blaney +165, Denny Hamlin +190, Joey Logano +240, Kyle Larson +270, Chase Briscoe +300, Ty Gibbs +350, Tyler Reddick +500, William Byron +500, Austin Cindric +600, Josh Berry +600, Bubba Wallace +600, Chase Elliott +700, Brad Keselowski +1400, Carson Hocevar +1400, Ross Chastain +1500, Chris Buescher +1500, Ryan Preece +1600, Alex Bowman +2200
Winning Team — Team of Winning Driver (FanDuel): Joe Gibbs Racing +105, Team Penske +210, Hendrick Motorsports +440, 23XI Racing +1000, Wood Brothers Racing +2000, RFK Racing +2200, Spire Motorsports +3000, Trackhouse Racing +3500, Legacy Motor Club +6000, Front Row Motorsports +8000, Richard Childress Racing +10000, Kaulig Racing +25000, HYAK Motorsports +30000
Logano’s +240 top-three price is the standout number on the board relative to his 3.50 average finish at this track — a shorter, safer way to back his Gateway form without paying the outright premium. Joe Gibbs Racing at +105 to produce the winning car covers Hamlin, Bell, Briscoe and Gibbs for a shorter number than any of them individually, which is the natural consequence of the team holding four of the top six playoff seeds.

Betting Analysis
Bell is the correct favorite, and the shortest number is not unreasonable. He is coming off a Southern 500 win, he owns the second-best average finish in the field at Gateway, and he has finished top seven in four of five starts this year on comparable flat, short-track layouts. At +400 with LetsBetMD or Caesars, he is priced like a driver who should win roughly one time in five — which tracks with his 2026 form on this type of circuit.
Hamlin’s price barely moves for his recent Gateway form, and that is the opening. Three straight finishes of first, second and second at a track where he also holds the qualifying record is about as strong a recency signal as this sport produces, yet he is available at the same +500 as Blaney at two of four books and actually the shortest price in the field at LetsBetMD (+425). The gap between his outright number and his top-three price (+190 at FanDuel) suggests the smarter structure is backing him to finish top three rather than chasing the win outright.
Blaney is the model’s favorite for a reason. VSIN’s simulation, built around flat short-track performance, qualifying position and recent momentum, ranks Blaney first overall and projects him for the pole. He leads the field in both average starting position and laps led at this track, and Penske’s broader Gateway record backs up the model’s read.
Logano is priced like a middling contender and performs like the best driver at the track. Four top fives in four Cup starts here, a 3.50 average finish that is the best of anyone active, and a prior Gateway win in 2022 argue for a shorter number than +650-to-+900. His top-three price at +240 (FanDuel) is the more efficient way to play that history.
Fade with caution, not conviction. VSIN’s model flags Elliott, Wallace, Buescher, Bowman and Hocevar as likely to underperform this week, though it is not a unanimous read — Elliott in particular carries competitive historical numbers at this circuit even if the current-season model is skeptical. Treat those longer prices as avoidable rather than as fade targets to back against.
Preece is the longshot with an actual thesis. He is the 16th and final seed in the playoff field, but his short-track results have improved through 2026, and at +4500 with LetsBetMD, a single well-timed caution and a clean pit sequence is the entire case.
Best Bets for the Enjoy Illinois 300
Christopher Bell to win (+400 at LetsBetMD or Caesars). Southern 500 momentum, the second-best average finish in the field at this specific track, and a profile that has produced top-seven finishes in four of five comparable starts this season.
Denny Hamlin top-three finish (+190 at FanDuel). Three consecutive Gateway finishes of first, second and second, the track’s qualifying record, and the field’s best driver rating at this circuit — the top-three price captures that form without the variance of the outright.
Ryan Blaney to win (+500 at BetRivers or FanDuel). VSIN’s model favorite, the field leader in Gateway laps led and average starting position, backed by Team Penske’s strongest-in-class record at this track.
Joey Logano top-three finish (+240 at FanDuel). Compare it at FanDuel — four top fives in four career Gateway starts and the best average finish among active drivers make this the cleanest value play on the board.
Longshot flier: Ryan Preece (+4500 at LetsBetMD). Improving short-track form in 2026 and nothing to lose as the 16th seed; at 45-1, one clean pit sequence is the whole case.
Predicted Podium
Expect qualifying to matter more than usual given Gateway’s pole-conversion rate, expect at least one caution-driven strategy shuffle given the track’s overtime history, and expect the Joe Gibbs Racing cars to be factors at the front all afternoon.
Predicted podium: 1. Christopher Bell, 2. Denny Hamlin, 3. Ryan Blaney
Where to Bet the Enjoy Illinois 300
The boards above disagree by 250 points on Logano, 200 on Larson and 700 on Reddick. On a track that has produced four different winners in four tries, that kind of spread is the difference between a live playoff-week ticket and a break-even one. Open an account at BetRivers for the full winner, top-3 and team boards, or check the LetsBetMD odds for the longer prices across the second and third tiers of the field.
