The American Hostage cast spoke about shooting the series in a Winnipeg winter at the show’s world premiere of its pilot episodes in TIFF’s Primetime program.
While there were shoutouts to the film crew, local talent , film commission and friendly citizens, most couldn’t get over how cold it was.

American Hostage is psychological thriller that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman (Jon Hamm), a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis (Giovanni Ribisi) demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.
The series is an adaptation of the acclaimed first season of the scripted podcast of the same name.
