From from fun for all ages mini golf to to vinyl DJs and food by La Mezcaleria, this playful new attraction gives Vancouverites a whole new reason to venture into the world’s best park

We’ve all been to Stanley Park countless times. The seawall, the trees, the views. They’re classics.

But hidden away amongst them is something a little less expected: a cool new mini golf experience that gives locals a fresh excuse to rediscover one of Vancouver’s most iconic spots.

Open now until Sept. 30, Stanley Park Mini Golf combines a colourful course with local food, music and plenty of playful surprises, creating something that feels less like a tourist attraction and more like a hidden gem.

Go down the rabbit hole

The course features 18 holes, with visitors able to choose between a nine-hole beginner-friendly experience or taking on all 18 for a more challenging adventure. The full course takes roughly 45 to 90 minutes, depending on your route and skill level.

While mini golf is the focus, Meanwhile, the Vancouver design studio behind the project wanted the experience to be about more than staying under par.

“Our vision was to create an immersive experience that felt joyful, nostalgic and fun,” says Chris Charest, CEO of Studio Meanwhile.

That vision shows up all over the course. Inspired by optical art, the wavy aesthetics of the 1960s and out-of-this-world wonderlands, Stanley Park Mini Golf features bold colours, geometric patterns and quirky 3D-printed objects.

The result is playful and just a little bit weird, in the best possible way.

The team also designed the course specifically to work within its forested surroundings, using a temporary footprint that blends into the natural environment rather than disrupts it.

And then there’s the music.

A soundtrack for your swing

On Wednesdays through Saturdays, vinyl DJ sets run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring fun and quirky instrumentals inspired by the music of the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

On Sundays, live mariachis roam the course from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., adding an unexpected and infectious energy to the course. The perfect accompaniment to the on-site food.

Come for the golf, stay for the tacos

Let’s be clear, this isn’t your typical concession stand. At any point, visitors can grab tacos, quesadillas, snacks and drinks from Patio by La Mezcaleria, making it easy to turn a quick game into a full afternoon or evening out.

The music and food are an important part of getting people to slow down and actually enjoy their time together. “This is an analog experience, the whole point is to encourage guests to take their time and be present with their families and friends close to home,” says Charest.

And that’s really the best part: Stanley Park Mini Golf gives Vancouverites a new way to experience a place we sometimes take for granted.

“As Vancouverites, we are lucky to have this park in our backyard,” says Charest. “Living here in Vancouver, I think we often forget what a special place it is.”

So consider this your invitation to take a walk through the trees, grab a club and see where the rabbit hole leads.
