Monday marked the launch of the new on-demand bus service that takes users on point-to-point trips and connects with local transit north of Brampton.
Like a combination of a ride share app and public transit, the new transit service is called Argo and lets users request rides and travel directly to their desired destination using a smartphone app.
The service previously launched in Brampton and Brantford, and went live in Caledon on Monday.
Argo Transit services will operate seven days per week to cover existing service times offered through Brampton Transit, and will “target to reduce median wait times to 20-minutes while ensuring 100 (per cent) trip fulfillment,” the report reads.
Argo rides cost the same as a regular Brampton Transit trip. Fare payments on Argo vehicles can be made with a Presto card, while cash and paper tickets will not be accepted. All other forms of Brampton Transit fares are valid, including transfers.
The app is now available on the iOS Apple Store, Google Play Store. The town says new accounts may take up to 72 hours to be activated during the initial launch period.

Argo rides cost the same as a regular Brampton Transit trip – $3.55 for adults aged 20 to 64, $2.95 for youth aged 13 to 19, $2.00 for children aged 6 to 12, and $1.85 for seniors 65 and over. Kids five and under ride free.
Transfers to and from Brampton Transit, York Region Transit, and GO Transit are included at no extra cost, though Presto isn’t yet accepted on Argo vehicles in Caledon.
The Argo transit system will run in Caledon as a $4.5-million, 15-month pilot project with an option to extend the program. Argo transit was initially going to replace a trio of Brampton Transit routes when the program rolls out – routes 81, 25 and 41 servicing Bolton, Mayfield West and Caledon East. But those bus lines will stay up and running until at least the end of 2026, the town says.
