The Cavaliers announced that “15 games will be simulcast over-the-air” during the upcoming season through a deal with DAZN, the team’s streaming partner, according to George Thomas of the AKRON BEACON JOURNAL. Games will air locally on Gray Media television stations WUAB (Channel 43) and WOIO (Channel 19). Games will also air statewide on the Rock Entertainment Sports Network, which is a collaboration between Gray and the Rock Entertainment Group. When asked last month if the Cavs and DAZN had any plans for deals with cable, virtual cable services and satellite services, they were “non-committal.” Thomas notes unless something changes, this is what Cavs fans, “hardcore and casual, can expect in the way of access.” Thomas: “It’s a far cry from when fans could turn on their local regional sports network and find their sports teams’ games. … If this broadcast setup will be the status quo, the harsh reality sports fans will have to contend: if you want to see all games, you’re going to have to pay for most of it in some form or fashion” (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 9/15).
