Rumi’s Voice Actor Reflects on KPop Demon Hunters’ Journey

On Sep 12, 2026, at Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, Arden Cho, the voice of Rumi, recalled an early recording session for the scene where HUNTR/X meets the Saja Boys. Speaking about hearing Soda Pop during the session, Cho recalled thinking, “This is going to be the greatest movie of all time.”

Cho also described her reaction to seeing the completed film and its depiction of Korea. She said she became emotional at the prospect of audiences worldwide seeing the country’s culture and food through the animation.

Her connection to Rumi also influenced her performance.

Cho linked the character’s experiences with expectations from family to her own upbringing as a Korean-American daughter. She explained that KPop Demon Hunters came by after she had spent almost two years away from acting, during which she traveled and pursued personal goals. Returning through Rumi gave her a clearer sense of the stories she wanted to tell.

Cho remains connected to another of her past characters, Kira Yukimura from Teen Wolf, which she identified as a role she would like to revisit.

Altogether, the new Huggers and Cho’s reflections highlight how KPop Demon Hunters continues to connect with fans through its characters, stories, and merchandise.
