Brampton residents will have an opportunity to hear directly from the city’s mayoral candidates next week as the 2026 municipal election campaign gets underway.
The Brampton Arts Organization (BAO), Brampton Library and CBC News are hosting a non-partisan mayoral candidates roundtable on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Springdale Branch Library.
The “Vote for the Arts: Arts & Culture Election Town Hall and Mayoral Candidates Roundtable” will focus specifically on the future of arts, culture and the creative economy in Brampton.
The event comes just over a month before Brampton voters head to the polls for the municipal election on Oct. 26. Residents will elect a mayor, city and regional councillors and school board trustees.
The town hall is being presented as an opportunity for voters to hear the candidates’ priorities and commitments on issues affecting Brampton’s arts and cultural sector.
The roundtable is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m., following opening remarks, with the event wrapping up at 8:30 p.m.
Doors open at 6 p.m., allowing attendees to network before the formal portion of the evening.
The event is being organized as part of the Brampton Arts Organization’s municipal election advocacy campaign. BAO is calling on candidates to recognize arts and culture as a strategic priority for the city, including increased investment, more affordable creative spaces and greater integration of arts and culture into municipal planning and economic development.
“Brampton has an incredibly talented and diverse creative community,” said BAO Executive Director Michael Vickers. “This election is an important opportunity to talk about how the city can better support our artists, strengthen our creative economy, create more opportunities for residents to participate in arts and culture, and make sure this sector is treated as the vital infrastructure and economic driver that it is.”

Brampton Library CEO Todd Kyle said the organization is pleased to participate in the town hall and provide an opportunity for candidates to discuss their vision for the city’s cultural and artistic communities.
The event will take place at the Springdale Branch Library at 10705 Bramalea Rd. Admission is free, although registration is required and space is limited. ASL interpretation will also be available.
With the municipal election now just weeks away, the town hall offers Brampton voters an early chance to compare the mayoral candidates on an issue that organizers say plays an important role in the city’s economy and quality of life.
The City of Brampton has certified the official list of candidates for the Oct. 26 election.
