A Brampton resident is facing criminal charges after a construction flagger was allegedly threatened during a traffic delay in a Grey Highlands community.
Grey Bruce OPP were called around 3:44 p.m. on Sept. 14 after receiving a report that a construction flagger had been threatened while working on Toronto Street in Markdale.
The flagger was directing traffic through an active construction zone when an individual stopped in traffic and became increasingly agitated about the delay, according to police.
OPP say the individual got out of their vehicle multiple times and approached the flagger to complain about the wait.
Police allege the interactions escalated and threats of harm were directed at the construction worker.
Aisha Bibi, 31, of Brampton, has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer.
Bibi was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Dec. 10.
The allegations have not been tested in court.
The incident comes as construction continues on roads throughout the province, with motorists regularly being required to stop or wait while crews work.

Grey Bruce OPP are reminding drivers that traffic control personnel are positioned in construction zones to help protect workers, motorists, pedestrians and other road users.
Flaggers can be working only a short distance from moving traffic, police noted, and drivers are being urged to remain patient, follow directions from traffic control personnel and exercise caution and courtesy when travelling through work zones.
Police also warned that threatening, intimidating or harassing workers while they are carrying out their duties can result in criminal charges.
