Free rides for cyclists aboard Victoria transit during Go By Bike week

A win-win week is ahead for commuters who do the bike/bus method during GoByBike week this fall.
The Victoria Regional Transit Commission offers free transit for cyclists Sept. 19 to 25.
To qualify, customers taking part in GoByBike Week must use the bus bike racks or show their helmet when boarding the bus.
With bike racks on all conventional BC Transit buses, using two forms of sustainable transit is easier than ever. This also allows for more flexibility if there is a change in the weather throughout the day – sunshine on the way into work but rain and cold wind on the way home, put the bike on the bus and enjoy a free ride.
Most bikes can be accommodated on BC Transit buses, but please note that bike space is limited and cannot be guaranteed. GoByBike week features seven days of festivities and celebration stations with free snacks, drinks, bike support and more across the region. Riders can meet local partners and enjoy hands-on experiences from bike tuneups and demos to prizes.
Riders can download a challenge card online and log every trip for more prize opportunities.
Celebration stations start in Regatta Park Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to noon; Tulista Park in Sidney on Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to noon; Switch Bridge 7 to 11 am. on Monday, Sept. 21; Atkins Park and Ride Sept. 22 from 7 to 11 a.m.; and the University of Victoria on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 8 a.m. to noon.
BC Transit is taking part in this year’s City of Victoria celebration station at King Street and Ross Lane on Sept. 24 from 7 to 11 a.m. Representatives from BC Transit will be there to answer questions and offer live demonstrations using a bus bike rack.
The week closes with a celebration station Friday, Sept. 25 at Oak Bay Municipal Hall from 7 to 11 a.m.
