A planned service interruption will leave around 60,000 Hydro-Québec in and around the provincial capital customers without power this weekend.
The outage will affect customers in Quebec City, Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier and L’Ancienne Lorette.
It is scheduled to begin on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 5:30 p.m. and will be restored gradually on Monday starting at 6:30 a.m.
Hydro-Québec says it has notified affected customers by phone.
The utility says the outage is necessary in order for work to be carried out at its Neufchâtel substation in Quebec City.
“This work must be completed before winter to prevent a more serious failure that could lead to a longer outage and affect a larger number of customers,” Hydro-Québec wrote in a news release.
Hydro-Québec is also reminding customers to charge all their devices before the power is cut, and ensure they have flashlights and batteries on hand.
