A new strength-training program for women going through menopause and perimenopause is being offered in Chilliwack.
Moving Through Menopause, a program for women aged 40 and older, starts Sept. 22 at the Bob Chan-Kent Family YMCA.
“This program is designed to support women as they move through the different stages of menopause, providing education, movement, connection, and practical tools to help navigate this stage of life,” said instructor Cheya Grant.
The six-week strength-training program is designed specifically to support women navigating the physical and mental changes of perimenopause and menopause. It combines expert-led workouts with vital, evidence-based health information to empower women with the knowledge and skills to improve their health outcomes, according to the YMCA’s description.
“Many women aren’t sure how to adjust their fitness during perimenopause or after. Moving Through Menopause focuses on building functional strength, supporting bone health, and creating a space where women feel seen, supported, strong and more informed,” the description reads.
Moving Through Menopause runs for 13 sessions from Sept. 22 to Nov. 10, twice a week. Sessions are on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
