A major traffic pattern change is coming to the Fraser Highway between 140th Street and 96th Avenue.

Traffic on this 500-metre stretch will be restricted to westbound travel only during the day. The section will be closed overnight. The change will be in place for three months.

“Surrey-Langley SkyTrain construction is underway, including the delivery and lifting of large components for the future SkyTrain guideway, rail installation and continued station work,” notes a press release from the B.C. Government’s Transportation Investment Corporation (TIC).

Traffic pattern changes along Fraser Highway—between 140th and 96th—will be in place from Sept. 21 to Dec. 20. Changes include: westbound traffic only from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., overnight closure from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and an alternate route in place via 96th Avenue (see image).

There will also be left turn restrictions on Fraser Highway and 140th Street 24/7.

“Overnight work will occur throughout this timeframe,” the TIC release also notes. “Cranes and equipment will be in operation; increases in noise are expected.”

Overnight work will include weekends and stats. Regular construction hours are set at 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“The travelling public may experience delays while in the area.”
