After decades of playing the lottery, a Brampton father and his family are celebrating a “once-in-a-lifetime” $50,000 win.
Merton Peter T. says he’s been playing OLG lottery games for nearly 30 years, and often enjoys playing Daily Keno.
The Brampton father was checking tickets at a store on Aug. 14 when he discovered his Daily Keno 8 Pick won him a $50,000 prize.
“When I realized I had a winning ticket, I was so excited,” he said while picking up his cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
Merton shared the news with his daughter first, and said she “was very happy and flabbergasted.”
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and it doesn’t happen to everyone,” he said. “I would describe it as breathtaking.”
Daily Keno can be played with a $1, $2, $5 or $10 ticket. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
The winning ticket was purchased at Raj Kitchen Food Fair on Father Tobin Road in Brampton.
