Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the biggest movie of all time at the US box office with an extraordinary $937.4 million. It’s also the third highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide with a stunning $2.45 billion.
However, if you’re not one of the many people to have seen it at the cinema, you might be waiting for its streaming release to see what the fuss is about. Sony has yet to confirm a streaming release date for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but we do already know that you’ll be waiting a while to be able to watch it at home.
However, we can look at previous Sony releases to work out exactly when you’ll be able to watch the new movie at home, as well as why you won’t be able to see it on Disney+ for at least a year.

When will Spider-Man: Brand New Day be available to stream?
As mentioned above, Spider-Man: Brand New Day does not yet have a confirmed streaming release date, but we do know that it’ll take a while.
While some Sony releases arrive on Netflix in the US (more on that in a bit) around three months after their cinema release, it’s usually a different story when it comes to a blockbuster series like Spider-Man.
Given that Brand New Day has been a massive box-office hit, it’s best to look at the release pattern for Spider-Man: No Way Home. That movie didn’t arrive on any streaming service until seven months after its cinema release. In the US, its first streaming platform was Starz and in the UK, it was Sky Cinema.
That’s now changed in the US at least, where Netflix is now the first streaming platform for any Sony release. Sony has also signed a worldwide deal with Netflix which will be fully rolled out worldwide by early 2029, but it’s unclear when Sky’s current deal with Sony runs out after they signed a “multi-year” extension in May 2023, so let’s assume that included 2026 titles for now.
Whether the streaming platform is Netflix or Sky in the UK, if it follows the timeline of No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day won’t make its streaming debut until at least February 2027.
Even though it is an MCU movie, it was released by Sony which also means that it won’t land on Disney+ for some time after that. Typically, Sony releases take at least 18 months from their first streaming release to arrive on Disney+ in the US, so that won’t be until August 2028 for Brand New Day.
It’s also worth noting that there’s not currently a deal in place between Sony and Disney+ in the UK, so its second streaming platform over here could be something different entirely. For instance, the previous Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland have been on both Netflix and BBC iPlayer.

When will Spider-Man: Brand New Day be released on digital platforms?
It’s not all bad news though as Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be available to watch at home before its streaming release when Sony releases it on digital platforms.
Again, its digital release date has yet to be confirmed, but if we look at No Way Home’s release schedule, that was made available to available to buy or rent around three months after its cinema release.
A similar schedule this time around means Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on digital platforms in late October 2026.
