BRAMPTON, ONTARIO — The Corporation of the City of Brampton has recognised Nigerian cultural leader, Tonye Rex Idaminabo, for his contribution to the Flavours of Nigeria Festival and efforts to promote Nigerian heritage, traditions and artistic expression.
Idaminabo was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for Cultural Leadership by the City in recognition of his contribution to the festival and his role in showcasing Nigerian culture within Brampton’s multicultural community.
The certificate, signed by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, acknowledged Idaminabo’s dedication to celebrating Nigerian heritage and his contribution to bringing communities together through culture and creativity.
Speaking on the recognition, Idaminabo said cultural leadership was about creating opportunities for communities to preserve, celebrate and share their heritage while encouraging cultural exchange.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from the City of Brampton,” he said.
“Culture has the ability to connect people across borders and backgrounds. I am proud to contribute to the celebration of Nigerian heritage and to create opportunities for people to experience and appreciate our traditions, creativity and artistic expression.”
His participation in the Flavours of Nigeria Festival provided an avenue for Nigerian culture to be presented to a diverse audience in Brampton, with activities focused on Nigerian traditions and artistic expression.
The city’s recognition also highlighted the role of cultural initiatives in fostering connections among communities and promoting appreciation of different cultural traditions.
Idaminabo said he would continue to develop initiatives around Nigerian heritage, cultural leadership, artistic expression and intercultural engagement, with the aim of connecting Nigerian culture with wider international audiences.
