A Country Grocer in Royal Oak was evacuated Saturday afternoon after bystanders say they saw a man use pepper spray to evade a security guard.

Chad Gaucher was in the store when he heard a commotion and saw a security guard clutching his face in distress.
Gaucher said it seemed that customers near the incident were also sprayed.
He was told the spray was deployed by a shoplifter when he was confronted by the guard.
