Staff at the Brampton Animal Services shelter are asking pet lovers for donations of items to help give animals the care they need.

In a post on social media, Brampton Animal Services says it has run out of bath- and beach-sized towels and is asking residents for help.

While something as simple as a towel may seem mundane, the shelter says soft linens are important to make animals feel safe and secure.

“These towels are essential for helping us provide comfort and care to animals in need,” the animal shelter says. “Every single towel makes a difference.”

Brampton Animal Services says the shelter is also accepting face cloths, Churu lickable cat treats and dry cat food for the Pet Food Pantry.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter on Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or left outside the front of the shelter after hours, Brampton Animal Services says.

Brampton residents looking to help support local animals can also donate to the city’s Helping Orphaned Pets in Emergencies (HOPE) Fund – a program that provides life-saving medical care for animals in need, along with support for families and their pets.

The fund was started in 2001 to raise money for sick and injured animals so they can be rehabilitated and adopted into loving “forever homes,” with 100 per cent of donations used to provide extended medical care for animals.

Contributions to the HOPE Fund allowed Brampton Animal Services to provide critical medical care, including life-saving surgeries, to nearly 40 cats and dogs in 2024 alone.

Residents can donate sealed, dry or canned pet food for cats, dogs and other small animals to the shelter at 475 Chrysler Dr., and pet owners in need can access the Emergency Pet Food Pantry by calling 905-458-5800, emailing [email protected], or submitting a form online.
