Ignore empty promises

Editor,

As we are now in ‘election mode’ in Surrey it is important to be aware of whom we want in office for the next few years.

Let’s remember their track record, with some having rather grandiose and fanciful pipe-dreams which we taxpayers would fund, such as a 60,000-seat stadium, or a canal with gondoliers etc. One particular mayor was in the habit of ending debate or banning people when difficult questions were asked.

All politicians make promises but hopefully have a common sense vision which is within the scope of we taxpayers to fund them.

Let’s vote for a competent mayor and council by looking at their accomplishments rather than empty promises.
