SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – The CEO of Family First Credit Union in Saginaw County, who made headlines after a controversial AI post, is no longer with the company.
According to the company, CEO Jane Smith is no longer an employee of Family First Credit Union, effective immediately.
Smith has been replaced by the COO Jason Acosta, who is now serving an the interim CEO.
It is not clear whether Smith resigned or was let go, or the reason behind it.
Smith was seen on social media with her family members wearing “Lake America” sweatshirts before going to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The photo was AI-doctored to put the Lake America sweatshirts on the family, according to Smith.
She adds that the doctored image was originally posted to her private Facebook page in what she describes as a poor-judgment attempt at humor, with a marker saying it contained AI content. Her sister, who was with her on the trip, reposted it publicly without the AI marker.
“We weren’t trying to make a political statement,” Smith said. “However, we were, you know, kind of poking fun at the fact that, you know, one of the Great Lakes’ names was getting changed.”
