ROSES AND ROTTEN TOMATOES: Roses to the ‘human angels’ in Surrey

Published 7:00 am Thursday, September 24, 2026

• Bunches of roses and a great big thank you for the kindness and help shown from strangers, Ron and Denise, with their little dog Mandy on September 16, 2026. They went out of their way to give my mom and me a lift from Bear Creek Park after our car battery died. They were our human angels that day.

• A bunch of roses to the workers that cleaned the pathway below the powerlines between 105 and 108th. No more dog poop, leftover drugs, garbage, and whatever else arrives along this pathway. More roses if the Surrey mayor would put up signs to educate those that do not have the sense to pick up your dog’s poop. We know the difference between the wild animals which have the right. As citizens, let’s also speak up politely and educate those who have no idea how to participate in a society that has pride and dignity in a clean and vibrant community. Clean up your garbage, houses, yards.

• A big bunch of roses to Darlye. Have seen Darlye a few times being an amazing part of the community picking up the garbage in Hawthorne Park and the surrounding streets. Hugh thanks for picking up and cleaning beneath the power lines from 141 and 140th. So grateful for those neighbours who care about the community we all live in. Let’s make sure we all do our part.
