9 – VINCENT BLANCHARD FIELD GOALS
Blanchard was called on early and often, nailing all nine of his field goal attempts to set a new single-game record.
His longest make of the game came with three minutes remaining in the second quarter as a 54-yard kick put Edmonton into their first lead. Blanchard would score the first 18 points for the home team, sent the game into overtime with a 27-yard make, then guided in two more kicks in the extra frame.
116 – JUSTIN RANKIN YARDS FROM SCRIMMAGE
Rankin ran for 74 yards on 11 carries and was sure-handed as a receiver, catching all four of his targets for 42 yards.
Rankin’s biggest play of the day came in the third quarter when his 34-yard scamper led to Cody Fajardo’s goal-line rushing touchdown, Edmonton’s first major of the day.
1 – DEFENSIVE STOP IN OVERTIME
Hamilton had a great opportunity to come out of Edmonton with a first-and-goal opportunity in overtime, but Edmonton’s defence did enough to force Harrison Frost into two incompletions.
After Hamilton head coach Scott Milanovich successfully challenged for defensive pass interference, the Ticats got a fresh set of downs at Edmonton’s four-yard line. On first down, Frost looked to Kiondre Smith but his receiver couldn’t make the play in the end zone. Kenny Logan Jr. then broke up a pass intended for Tyler Ternowski, forcing Hamilton to kick a field goal.
