Royce Keys and 946’s assault on The Bloodline continued on Monday night, taking things to a new level by ending Raw with a vehicular assault on Jacob Fatu.

The confrontation between The Bloodline and 946 was built to all night and led to a wild show-ending brawl between the groups. Things took a turn when Fatu was struck by a car in the backstage area just before the show went off the air.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

946 hits Jacob Fatu with a car

The Bloodline opened the show, taking the microphone to say that they haven’t been getting along with Solo Sikoa, but he’s still their blood, so they can’t tolerate 946 abducting him last week. Jacob Fatu said he’s been telling The Usos not to react and to wait for the right time to deal with things, but that time is over. A car was shown arriving on the Tron, and the Bloodline ran backstage and knocked out a WWE crew member, but it was just Jaida Parker arriving to speak to Adam Pearce.

946 sent in a video saying that they’re glad someone in The Bloodline finally called the play, but that “somebody won’t make it off the block.” Fatu told The Usos that 946 would try to separate them at some point, but they need to stick together.

946 arrived at the end of the show, coming through the crowd and taking out a member of security before The Bloodline walked to ringside and a brawl broke out. After The Bloodline had the early advantage, things turned and 946 took over, including brawling in the crowd and taking out “fans.” Keys and Fatu remained in and around the ring. Fatu began to beat down Keys before Keys escaped the ring, though Fatu followed and delivered some chair shots. The brawls between the groups continued backstage, where Fatu and Keys were brawling before Keys attempted to escape in an SUV. After Fatu was hit by a car door, a car flew into the scene and hit Fatu before Parker emerged from the car in a panic, saying she didn’t see him. Parker then pivoted and said nobody is safe before leaving with Keys as the show went off the air.

Wrestlers being hit by cars has a strange lineage in wrestling. Possibly the most well-executed example was Eddie Gilbert hitting Jerry Lawler with a car in a Memphis Wrestling angle. That had a kind of raw grittiness to it. Monday night didn’t have that same feeling; instead, it was an HD television program using a very obvious cut to show a stuntman performing a stunt. That has been the problem with all things 946. Every “crazy moment” has been too awkward, too obviously “part of the show” and just kind of goofy in general (like the poorly executed setting of a car on fire). It makes it hard to want to engage in suspension of disbelief, which is the only way such an angle can work at all. I fear there’s no saving this angle. Grade: D+
