Perched along the River Thames on the other side of the bank to Hampton Court Palace, is a popular waterside destination called The Albany.

The popular family friendly village pub in Thames Ditton, temporarily closed its doors on Monday (September 28) to begin a three-and-a-half-week renovation set to redefine the local country pub experience.

Part of the Premium Country Pub Collection, when it reopens, guests can expect a beautifully reimagined space that effortlessly blends the timeless, rustic charm of a traditional country pub with a more refined, contemporary elegance.

Reopening on October 23 in time for the start of the school holidays, the new-look spot in Queens Road, promises to offer an inviting escape for everything from cosy catch ups by the fire to long, leisurely lunches and those memorable autumn evenings shared with friends and family.

As part of the refurbishment, guests can look forward to an exciting range of updates including a refreshed riverside beer garden, complete with new plants, furniture and lighting.

The new-look areas will be the perfect spot to enjoy the pub’s signature range of cocktails, including the Banana Junglebird and Disaronno Bakewell Sour, in the late autumn sun while overlooking the former home of King Henry VIII.

Inside, food will take centre stage. A refreshed menu, expertly crafted using high-quality seasonal ingredients, will bring together comforting classics and elevated favourites – delivering a dining experience designed to delight and keep locals coming back.

From Monday to Friday, there will be a fixed-price lunch and early evening menu, with two courses from £21.95 or three courses from £25.95, from 12pm-6:30pm. The new menu will offer guests lighter bites and classic pub flavours with a modern twist.

Aleksandar Markov, the pub’s general manager, said: “The Albany has always been at the heart of the Thames Ditton community, and the refurbishment is a chance for us to give back to guests, both new and old, this autumn.

“We can’t wait for locals to experience the fresh look while enjoying the classic premium country pub experience of great food and excellent customer service they know and love.”
