Winnipeg police (WPS) arrested three people for allegedly possessing illicit drugs, weapons, and cash during a traffic stop in the north end Friday.
Police say officers stopped a compact sedan travelling northbound, around 8:30 a.m., on Powers Street near Flora Avenue after noticing the vehicle had a smashed windshield.
“While speaking with the vehicle’s three occupants, officers noticed a weapon in plain view,” WPS said, in a press release Sunday.
Police seized a machete, plastic brass knuckles with a functioning taser, 73 grams on fentanyl, 9 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of crack cocaine, various amounts of prescription pills, scales and packaging materials and $790 in cash.
Anthony Courchene, 41, was charged with seven different weapons, drug trafficking and proceeds of crime-related offences.
The 31-year-old male driver and a 33-year-old woman passenger are facing similar charges.
