As the extended international break winds down and slowly but surely players return to their club’s, focus returns to the domestic game.
Hansi Flick and his FC Barcelona side will be hoping that the extended FIFA international window doesn’t upset the team’s exceptional start to the 2026/27 season with the Catalan side recording 21 points from a perfect start with seven wins from seven games.
Barça’s non international players have enjoyed an extended break of nine days of downtime with relief also palpable at the Catalan club after Raphinha’s thigh injury concerns ultimately turned out to be a scare after medical tests performed by Barcelona’s staff confirmed there is no structural injury.
Brazil’s Raphinha PATRICK HAMILTONOnerous October awaits
A dramatic October now awaits the club with ten games packed into a three week spell which include three LaLiga EA Sports matches (against Getafe, Betis and Alaves), the first El Clasico of the season at the Spotify Camp Nou and two tricky UEFA Champions League games away to Galatasaray and Paris Saint-Germain.
Whilst games in the month of October are far from decisive, the draining schedule will serve as an interesting ‘stress test’ to see how the Catalan side deal with high profile games coming with a three/four day regularity.
