Saskatchewan Conservation Officers are investigating after several ducks and Sandhill Cranes were found discarded along a rural road southeast of Craven.

The Ministry of Community Safety says the birds were discovered on Russell Hill Road on Oct. 3 with all edible meat still intact.

Investigators believe the birds were shot earlier that morning before being left in a roadside ditch sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Conservation officers are now asking anyone who travelled through the area during that time to come forward with information.

Officials say descriptions of suspicious vehicles or individuals, licence plate numbers, photographs, dashcam footage, and other video recordings could help identify those responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact a local conservation officer or call the Saskatchewan Turn In Poachers & Polluters line at 1-800-667-7561.
