After a disappointing showing for the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees, there’s definitely a feeling around the fan base that adding more offensive help should be at the top of the priority list.

It’ll be interesting to see which direction the Red Sox want to take this winter, as there isn’t exactly a slew of offensive bats available on the free-agent market.

Among them, however, is outfielder Randy Arozarena. Arozarena is a tough player to evaluate in the simple sense, as there have been times when he’s been very above average, and others when he struggled.

He’s not a perfect player, but he was great in his free-agent year, hitting .281 with an .865 OPS, 148 OPS+, and 26 home runs.

A Red Sox reporter recently suggested he could be a potential option in Boston, and with his postseason offensive success, he’d be a great fit.

“In terms of top free agent bats, the two obvious headliners are outfielders Randy Arozarena and Seiya Suzuki. Arozarena is coming off a career-year in which he recorded his sixth consecutive season with 20 homers and 20 stolen bases while posting an .865 OPS.

“The three-time All-Star is also a proven postseason performer and the kind of big personality who can provide an immediate spark on the field and in the clubhouse,” Mac Cerullo wrote.

Arozarena has played in 45 playoff games and appeared in 161 at-bats. He has done nothing but swing the bat at a high level, posting a .946 OPS and hitting 12 home runs.

For a Red Sox team that has struggled offensively at times in October, he might be able to answer some of those questions.
